'7 yr old me wants to have her next bday party here!! youre all invited!'
Seven year old me would have been totally into this place. Current me, though, was a little disappointed. I drove an hour and a half to get there, and the pastries wound up being pretty stale and the coffee watery.
I had a big Austin day trip planned, but ultimately it kind of fell apart. Me and my two best friends wandered around South Congress for a few hours and shopped, which was fun and easy. After a while, though, we started to get hungry, and grumpiness soon followed. Drained and low on sugar, we sat outside a vintage barber shop and Googled cute places to have lunch in the district.
In the end, the Googling did no good.
We walked, starving and dehydrated, into a little café, were seated at a tight communal table, and left as soon as we saw the menu's cheapest option was $18.
The next place we happened upon was still expensive, but cheap enough for us not to jump ship. We ate in a super dark corner by the kitchen. My burger and fries did not disappoint.
After SoCo, I drove around for a solid hour trying to decide where to park and what to do next. It wasn't my finest moment of planning, and my friends were falling asleep in the car. The whole trip was starting to feel like a waste.
We tried (and failed) to get drinks at a place in the Austin suburbs which had a twenty-five minute wait, and we roamed through a kind of creepy antique/vintage shop for a few more minutes before deciding to give up and head back to Waco.
Before completely leaving, though, I pulled over at P. Terry's and we got some pretty darn good milkshakes.
It was a fun day because my girls were with me, but not everything was perfect. Imperfection is everywhere in my life, and I'm better off for it. It is not, though, something I'm always willing to make super evident via my IG.
I hope this blog keeps things realll!!
